Preschool Curriculum

Introduction:
One of our main goals in our Preschool class is to prepare the students for a lifetime of pursuing knowledge. First and foremost, it is our goal to instill in them the love of learning. Secondly, we wish to familiarize them with a classroom environment. In our class, we will focus heavily on developing important skills such as sharing, taking turns, following directions, and completing processes. We also want to introduce the students to academic work that will prepare them for Pre-K, where they will begin to learn how to read and write. Below we have outlined the different academic units that we will cover this year. It is our sincere hope that we have an enjoyable and productive year together.
Language Arts:
In language arts our goal is for our students to be able to recognize the letters of the English alphabet. Although the student will be introduced to writing the letters of the alphabet, they will not be expected to do so independently. The students will also participate in story time, and will be asked questions about the stories they hear in order to develop comprehension skills.
